This simple design offers plenty of scope for you to apply your own combination of colours - see the example below. The original concept was for a single colour design using DMC 550 Violet thread on a pale lilac fabric such as Zweigart 727 or 501.
Based on the traditional Celtic cross, Rosemarkie has been named after the birthplace of designer Julia Line`s father, a small village on the Black Isle in Eastern Scotland and opposite Fort George, across the Moray Firth, where her paternal grandfather served as a Seaforth Highlander.

This version of Rosemarkie was stitched by the designer using DMC green (924) and red (498) threads on Zweigart 16# Aida Confederate Grey (718). Some small red beads were also added for effect.

This version of Rosemarkie, which won a major prize at the Woodlawn Exhibition (Virginia USA) in March 2006, was stitched by Marc Davis - you can see more of Marc`s work by visiting his gallery, simply click on the photo above.
